How weighted grades work
A weighted grade multiplies each assignment's grade by its weight, sums those contributions, and divides by the total weight: grade = Σ(g×w) / Σw. When your weights add up to less than 100%, this calculator shows two figures with different meanings: your grade on completed work (how you're doing so far) and your contribution to course grade so far (how many percentage points you've banked toward the final grade).
How the final grade needed formula works
The required final exam score is R = (target − current × (1 − F)) / F, where F is the final exam's weight as a fraction. If R comes out at 0% or below, you've already secured your target; above 100% means you'd need extra credit.
